LESLA Alliance exists to deliver public benefit within the Long Eaton community, including through educational and community activities that celebrate and preserve the legacy of the Windrush generation and their descendants.
Our work is guided by our charitable aims and informed by lived experience, connection and community engagement.

We preserve, share and promote the history, heritage and cultural contributions of the Windrush generation and their descendants for the public benefit.
Through educational exhibitions, talks and community-based learning opportunities, we create spaces for learning, storytelling, reflection and intergenerational connection, open to all.
Our content is informed by reputable historical sources and local archival material, helping ensure that community history is recognised, understood and passed on.

We promote volunteering, civic participation and community engagement by bringing people together in welcoming, diverse and accessible ways.
Our activities encourage participation, shared responsibility, leadership outcomes where applicable and intergenerational connection, helping strengthen relationships across the Long Eaton community.

We support young people in building confidence, developing practical and leadership skills, and participating actively in community life.
By encouraging volunteering, civic participation and contribution to community activities, and by connecting young people with positive role models and experiences, we help the next generation take an informed and active role in strengthening their community.

Our Community Support Fund provides short-term, proportionate (monetary-capped) assistance to individuals in Long Eaton experiencing financial hardship or disadvantage.
Support may include help with essential items such as food, prescriptions or basic household needs. Assistance is discretionary, capped, time-limited and focused on immediate need. Where appropriate, items are purchased directly, and individuals may also be signposted to specialist services.
All support is overseen by the trustees and delivered in furtherance of our charitable aims.

We are committed to operating responsibly and sustainably so that our charitable activities continue to benefit the Long Eaton community over the long term.
This includes developing strong partnerships, supporting volunteer-led initiatives, engaging in responsible fundraising, and strengthening our organisational capacity to deliver education, promote civic participation and provide appropriate relief of need.

Our charitable aims are reflected across our activities, from educational heritage programmes and community connection initiatives to youth engagement, companionship for older people, volunteering opportunities, community events, and shared spaces such as the LESLA Community Hub.
As a registered charity, we carefully develop our activities in response to identified community needs and available capacity, ensuring our work remains responsible, sustainable, and impactful.
